![]() ![]() Once the knob is on the shaft correctly install the shift frame and end cap on right side of shifter. I first pushed down on it hard, then pulled up on this clip to lock it in place I found pushing the knob into the shaft to be tricky. It will take some force.Ĭlip bottom of boot into shift frame and reinstall wiring in shift frame for lighting. Tuck the boot into the shift knob and install the clip. I did not staple my boot the plastic ring but I suppose you could. Fit the new boot over the trim ring making sure it is the correct orientation and that the stitches align with the indentations in the plastic piece. I found an exacto knife wedged in between the staple and plastic worked well to pry out the staples. You'll want to unclip it and then gently remove the staples from the part. The boot at the bottom is attached to a plastic piece that clips into the assembly. Gently pry it off to remove the boot from the knob. This is what the clip used to hold the boot to the knob looks like. Now that the entire assembly is off but still together you'll want to flip it upside down and push the shift know up towards you. ![]() It will come off and is surprising how much force it can take. Next grab the shift knob and pull straight up, hard. Push down on that clip, you'll hear another "click!" Now if you wiggle the entire assembly up you'll see this clip running down the shifter shaft (image stolen from here) (No pic of this one either) Then unplug the little connector that goes into the shift frame to illuminate the letters. I used an old credit card and gently slid it under an edge to pop it up. ( I don't have a pic of this step) Next you'll want to gently pry the silver PRNDS trim at the bottom of the boot up. Once you've removed the cap, use your finger and push through the knob til you see the button on the left side pop out a bit and you'll hear a "click" Some pics are actually taken post boot install.įirst, using a trim tool (or with a gentle hand - small flat head screw driver) remove the end cap on the right side of the shifter I stole a couple pics from another DIY I found.
